Paris Skateboarders’ Tribe (2001)

Started as a work under commission, it turned into something very different from the original plan, which was to depict the performances of the Parisian skateboarders. The shots don’t attach importance to the sports activity itself (skaters are firm or moving slowly and, when jumping or going fast, they are blurred), they show the portrait of an urban “tribe” of teenagers sharing the same style, attitude and passion: it seems skating is a pretext for meeting in a nice square in Paris and having a good time together, talking and smoking more than practicing their favorite sport.
